150th Birth Anniversary celebrations of Mahatma Gandhi at Agricultural College, Palem

The 150th Birth anniversary celebrations of Mahatma Gandhi was celebrated at Agricultural college, Palem on 02-10-2019 in a befitting way. The celebrations were started early in the morning at 6:30 AM with “Fit India Plog Run programme”. The programme was started by Dr. P. Raghu Rami Reddy, Associate Dean along with Dr. K. Charan Teja, NSS officer, Sri M. Balraj Yadav, Physical Director, staff and students. Associate Dean, Dr. P. Raghu Rami Reddy stressed the importance of physical fitness in day today life. He also mentioned that Plog run is a very good programme which helps in maintaining physical fitness along with cleanliness of surroundings. Later, Associate Dean along with staff and students conducted 2K Plog run programme in the premises of Agricultural College, Palem. There after slogans were raised stressing the importance of Mahatma Gandhi ideologies. At 9:30 AM, 150th Birth anniversary celebrations of Mahatma Gandhi were celebrated at college auditorium. The programme started with paying floral tributes to Father of the Nation by Associate Dean, staff and students, followed by National Anthem. Dr. K. Charan Teja, Asst. Professor & NSS officer briefed the gathering about the importance of day and showed important events in the life history of Mahatma Gandhi depicting how he became Father of Nation. Later, Anusha and Syeda Nehal from III and II year B.Sc. (Hons.) Agril., respectively sang songs about Mahatma Gandhi. There after students of II year B.Sc. (Hons.) Agril. have performed skits about Gandhian ideologies. Associate Dean, Dr. P. Raghu Rami Reddy along with the E. Sathyanarayana, Asst. Professor & OISA, Dr. K. Charan Teja, Asst. Professor & NSS officer and Er. J. Veeranna, Asst. Professor & NSS officer distributed the prizes to winners and runners of literary competitions that were conducted to the students on the occasion of 150th Birth anniversary celebrations of Mahatma Gandhi. Award winners of the literary competitions expressed their views on topic assigned to them. Later Associate Dean, Dr. P. Raghu Rami Reddy in his address mentioned briefly about the history of Mahathma Gandhi and the sacrifices he made for bringing freedom to the nation. He also briefed about the principles followed by Mahathma Gandhi and their relevance in current scenario. He urged the students to follow foot prints of great leader and use the natural resources wisely and avoid the usage of plastic and make the earth greener. He also mentioned about the significant contributions made by Lal Bahadur Shastri, Second Prime Minister of India to the country. Later Dr. K. Charan Teja, Asst. Professor & NSS officer read out oath to avoid plastic usage in the campus. Finally, Er. J. Veeranna, Assistant Professor thanked all the members for participating in the programme.
