Field Day on “ Full Package Technology, IPM and Weed Control in Pigeonpea” Front Line Demonstration Organised by AICRP, PIGEONPEA, RARS, Warangal at Meedigonda, Jangaon District on 23-11-2020

Regional Agricultural Research Station, AICRP, Pigeonpea, Warangal organized input distribution programme cum field day on full package technology (FPT), Integrated pest management (IPM) and Weed control (WC) (pre and post emergence) as part of front line demonstration technical programme for Vanakalam, 2020 at Meedigonda village, Station Ghanpur, Jangaon district on 23.11.2020. Dr. P. Jagan Mohan Rao, Associate Director of Research, Regional Agricultural Research Station, Warangal, chaired the programme and apprised the farmers about importance of pigeonpea crop, promising redgram varieties (Telangana kandi, Warangal kandi-1 & Rudreshwara), water management, weed management, identification and integrated pest management of Maruca vitrata, Helicoverpa armigera, podfly in pigeonpea, etc. Later Dr. N. Sandhyakishore, Scientist (Plant breeding), AICRP on Pigeonpea, RARS Warangal briefed about all suitable redgram varieties and their characters, Sri. A. Nagaraju, MAO, Station Ghanpur Mandal apprised about present situation of pigeonpea crop, pest and disease incidence in pigeonpea to the scientific staff and farming community. The programme was followed by field visit, during interaction all the queries were clarified and farmers expressed satisfaction over the crop performance and their eillingness to take up the technologies in a big way. In this programme Dr. M. Madhu, Scientist, (Agronomy and FLD incharge), Dr. D. Veeranna, Scientist (Entomology), AEO Usha and about 30 FLD beneficiaries & other farmers from Meedigonda village were participated in the meeting.
