KISAN MELA AT KVK, RUDRUR, NIZAMABAD DISTRICT ON 12.03.2019

District level kisan mela was was organised at Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Rudrur, Nizamabad district with the Department of Agriculture in association with Agriculture Technology Managemnt Agency (ATMA) on 12.03.2019. Kisan mela was inaugurated by Sri. K. Sai Reddy, Member, ICAR, Govt. of India, Sri. M. Govind, District Agriculture Officer, Nizamabad, Dr. M. Venkataiah, Principal Scientist (Entomology) & Head, Regional Sugarcane and Rice Research Station, Rudrur, Dr. RVT. Balazzii Naaiik, Programme coordinator, Krshi Vigyan Kendra, Rudrur, Sri S. Narsingh Das, District Horticulture & Sericulture Officer, Nizamabad , Dr. Khadeer, District Veterinary & Animal Husbandry Officer, Nizamabad, Dr. S. Naveen Kumar, Coordinator, DAATTC, Nizamabad, Dr. B. Srinivas, Scientist (Plant Breeding), RARS, Jagtial, Sri. Md. Moulana, Progressive Farmer, Renjal Mandal , Sri. Chinni Krishnudu, Organic Farmer, Jakranpally Mandal and Sri. Abdul Raheem, ATMA Member.

Dr. RVT. Balazzii Naaiik extended his warm welcome to the invitees, enlightened the best management practices in rice, maize and other crops and also explained about importance of green mannuring and other organic sources to improvise soil fertility in different irrigated and irrigated dry situations for better crop productivity. He explained about nutrient management based on soil test reports and recommendations and also advised to follow intercropping, crop rotation with leguminous crops to get higher crop yields. He also explained the importance of soil testing and available facilities at KVK, Rudrur.

Dr. M. Venkataiah, Principal Scientist (Entomology) & Head, Regional Sugarcane and Rice Research Station, Rudrur, while giving his inaugural address farmers can sustain with high productivity and profitability in different crops of the district by following the scientific recommendations especially pest and disease management aspects apart from all other agronomic management practices. He also explained the present pest and diseases scenario in the district in different crops and their management practices.

Sri. M. Govind, District Agricultural Officer, Nizamabad explained the different departmental activities in the district and advised the farmers to go for integrated farming. He informed the farmers to take advice from concerned agriculture officer before going for spraying of fungicide or pesticide. He directed the group to go for eco friendly farming for healthy environment.

Dr. B. Srinivas, Scientist, Rice Breeding, RARS, Jagtial explained the rice varieties suitable for Kharif and Rabi seasons and the characteristics of the varieties.

Dr. S. Naveen Kumar, Coordinator, DAATT Centre, Nizamabad emphasised the water management in rice crop and advised the farmers to go for soil test before going for next season.

Dr. T. Prabhakar Reddy, Scientist (Soil Science), RS&RRS, Rudrur explained about soil sample and water sample collections, bagging, labelling measures before sending to the laboratory for better results.

Sri K. Sai Reddy, Member, ICAR, Govt. of India and Sri Chinni Krishnudu, Organic Farmer, Jakranpally Mandal shared their experiences in organic farming and suggested the farmers to go for organic farming for the benefit of soil and human health.

Later the question answer session raised by the farmers were addressed by the scientists.

Agriculture, Animal Husbandry, Irrigation and other allied departments exhibited fourteen stalls. A total of 450 farmers, Scientists and students of RS&RRS, KVK, Polytechnic, Rudrur, Department officials participated in the district level Kisan Mela.
