ORIENTATION PROGRAMME TO THE NEWLY ADMITTED FIRST YEAR STUDENTS OF AGRICULTURAL COLLEGE, PALEM FOR THE ACADEMIC YEAR 2019-20

Orientation programme for the first year B.Sc. (Hons.) Agriculture students was organized at RARS Auditorium, Agricultural College, Palem on 19th August 2019 from 2:30 pm to 5:00 pm. 49 students have been admitted to this college. The admitted students have been allotted with the advisor. Dr. P. Raghu Rami Reddy, Associate Dean, Agricultural College, Palem congratulated the students besides giving certain important regulations to be followed in the university and also made remarks on agriculture as the most prestigious career which youth of new generation can choose. He further stated that agriculture being an applied and professional degree, students have ample scope to prepare efficiently for various competitive exams and excel in their career.

The programme started with a university song, followed by a brief introduction of college by Dr. K. Vijayalakshmi, Professor & Head, Department of Entomology. Orientation on the rules and regulations governing the Undergraduate Programme at P.J.T.S.A.U. is presented by Dr.T. Yella Goud, Assistant Professor, Officer In charge Academic Matters followed by a brief outline of the courses being offered by various departments in the college.

Wardens of both boys and girls hostel (Krishnaveni), Dr. S.G. Mahadevappa, Associate Professor, Agronomy and Dr. G. Jayasree, Professor and Head, Soil Science and Agricultural Chemistry have briefed about the rules governing accommodation at respective hostels. Also advised students to make proper pre-arrangements for any chronic health conditions. Guidance on National Service Scheme and other student activities was outlined by Dr. K. Charan Teja, Officer in-charge Student Affairs. Details concerning placements was given by Dr. R. Susheela, Placement cell in-charge.

A short interaction session between parents and functionaries is held where few parents discussed certain matters concerning hostel, food etc. The orientation closed with a brief vote of thanks by Dr. K. Charan Teja.
