College Day celebrations held at Agricultural Polytechnic, Tornala on 08-05-2019
Fourth annual day celebrations of Agricultural Polytechnic, Tornala were celebrated on 8th May, 2019. The function was graced by Dr S. Laxman, Director (Polytechnics), PJTSAU as the chief guest and Dr. P. Jaganmohan Rao, Associate Director of Research, RARS, Warangal as Guest of Honour. Dr A. V. Ramanjeneyulu, Senior Scientist (Agronomy) & Head, ARS, Tornala was the special guest for the occasion. The program started with welcoming of the guests by Sri. M. Saicharan, Asst. Professor (Entomology) & OIAM, followed by the invocation of University song and lightening of the lamp. To commemorate the occasion the college magazine “SASYA TORANAM – 2019” was released by the guests and dignitaries on the dais. Dr. S. Sridevi, Principal presented a brief report of the college where in she emphasized the importance given by the university to this institute for developing in to a fully fledged campus with all the facilities for classrooms, hostel buildings for boys and girls along with sports facilities. She also informed about the successful students of this college who were pursuing their B Sc.(Ag) and got selected for AEO posts in the Government of Telangana. She requested the authorities to look in to the issue of providing transport facilities to this APT.
Dr. P. Jaganmohan Rao, Associate Director of Research, RARS, Warangal, in his address inspired and motivated the students to work hard to achieve the set goals. He requested the students to concentrate on developing the skills in cultivating the pulses and oilseeds in view of the increasing demand of these crops. He congratulated the outgoing batch and encouraged the students to prepare for AGRICET and come out with the flying colors. Dr. S. Laxman, Director (Polytechnics), PJTSAU and the chief guest of the day informed the students about the efforts of the University that being taken up to expand the scope of Diploma holders for their higher education. He congratulated the students for getting an opportunity to study at APT, Tornala, a polytechnic with complete infrastructure and facilities. Dr. Ramanjeneyulu informed the students about the modern trends and technologies in Agriculture and reiterated the need to save and conserve water.
After the messages, Mr. A. Satish, Asst. Professor (Agronomy) & OISA requested the esteemed dignitaries, for the distribution of prizes to the students who have participated and won in various sports, games and literary events conducted as a part of Annual Day celebrations. The Principal along with faculty members felicitated the Chief Guest and the Guests of Honour. On the eve of anniversary the students gave Cultural programmes. The celebration was concluded with a formal vote of thanks by Mr. A. Satish, Asst. Professor (Agronomy) & OISA, APT, Tornala.
