Agricultural Research Station Karimnagar organized Awareness and Training Programme on Pre Rabi Campaign on Crop Diversification and Maize Production Technologies at Adopted Village, Perkapally of Saidapur mandal on 7th October, 2021. Dr.G.Usharani Scientist (Pl.Br.) welcomed the dignitaries onto the dias and farmers of the village. Dr.G.Manjulatha, Principal Scientist (Agro.) and Head chaired the session and sensitized the farmers and conceptualized the basic concept for shifting to cultivation of alternate crops viz. sunflower, greengram, black gram, Bengal gram, sesamum, mustard, oil palm, vegetable crops, etc. instead of paddy and demonstrated the maize production technologies of employing the monkey gun, mics and odishala against the control of monkeys and birds in maize production systems. Dr. A.Vijaya Bhaskar, Senior Scientist (Pl.Path.) detailed the farmers on the cultivation aspects of pulses crops viz. greengram, black gram, Cow pea and Bengal gram. Dr. E.Rajanikanth Scientist (Agro.) elucidated the house on the package of practices of maize and groundnut. Dr. G. Usharani Scientist (Pl.Br.) explained the management practices of sesamum and mustard. Mandal Agricultural Officer, Smt. Vaidehi explained about the state policy of limiting paddy cultivation and encouraged the farmers to go for alternate crops in the coming rabi season instead of paddy. Around 50 farmers participated in the programme and interacted with the scientists on their queries on alternate crops to paddy duly following the covid guidelines.
