Awareness campaign to Know about regional / local food: Millets, traditional recipes” organised at Millet Processing and Incubation Centre, College of Agriculture, Rajendranagar on 21-09-2021

To maintain the momentum and capitalize on the gains of the Jan Andolans of the past, the 4th Rashtriya Poshan Maah for September 2021 is planned. Accordingly, in the 3rd Week under the theme - Distribution of ‘Regional Nutrition Kit’ to beneficiaries of Anganwadi in high burdened Districts, “Awareness campaign to Know about regional / local food: Millets, traditional recipes” was organized on 21st September 2021 by the NSS wing at Millet Processing and Incubation Centre, College of Agriculture, Rajendranagar, PJTSAU, Hyderabad. The programme is graced by Dr. C. Narendra Reddy, Associate Dean. He explained the importance of millets and importance of millet consumption in day to today life. Mrs. T. Pradeepa Roberts, Research Associate, explained the objectives of millet processing Centre, millet value addition, primary and secondary processing of millets. Demonstration of millet vermicelli production was shown to the NSS volunteers. Value added products likes Ready to Cook millet based products like rava, vermicelli, noodles, pasta and Ready to Eat millet products like biscuits, extruded snacks and savory items like murukulu, cakes, laddus were shown to the volunteers in sales outlet. The NSS volunteers, NSS Programme officers have actively participated in the millet awareness campaign.
