Awareness programme on “Women Protection” on 30-11-2019 at Agricultural College, Sircilla

The NSS unit of Agricultural College, Sircilla has organized an awareness programme on “Women Protection” (Department of Women Development & Child Development) in the College in association with ‘Sakhi Kendram - One Step Center’ on 30th November, 2019 which was initiated by Government of Telangana. This programme was initiated on 15th November, 2019 in this district. The Sakhi Kendram is a one stop center which works for 24x7 attending all the problems faced by women. The NSS Programme Officer, Dr. R. Sathish initiated the programme with the introduction of the Sakhi representatives. The in-charge Associate Dean, Dr. Razia Sultana, briefed the present women situation in the society and requested all the girl students to be strong, brave, alert and self-defensive in case of critical situations. She also insisted that education of boys is also necessary for preventing the violence against women these days. The Sakhi Kendram representative Smt. Roja gave a detailed view on how Sakhi works for the women in need. She also said that Sakhi will provide health advices, legal councelling, hostel facilities for the women in need and also protection for women abuse mentally or sexually at home, work place or any other places. She also gave an ABCD rule for girl’s i. e., A-Awareness, B-Be Alert, C-Careful and D-Defensive at any time or place. Smt. Kalavathi, Psyco-Social Councellor of Sakhi Kendram advised all the students to give wide publicity of toll free number 181 which works 24x7 and rescue the victim immediately from anywhere in the state. The programme concluded with the vote of thanks to the Sakhi team given by the Mrs. K. Bhavya Sree, Assistant Professor. All the NSS student volunteers, teaching, non-teaching and supporting staff attended this programme.
