College of Agriculture, Rajendranagar Celebrates International Women's Day at Adopted Village, Gudur on 08-03-2020

International Women’s day was celebrated on 8th March, 2020 by the College of Agriculture, Rajendranagar at Adopted Village, Gudur, Kothur Mandal, Ranga Reddy district with all its fervor under the theme “Each for Equal”. The last day of the seven days NSS special camp which was inaugurated by the Associate Dean of the college and Hon’ble Member of Board of Management, PJTSAU; Dr. Seema on 2nd March, at the adopted village with all the girl NSS volunteers coincided with the festive day which echoed “an equal world is enabled world”. All the members of around 15 women self help groups of the village attended the function. The programme was attended by the Dean of Student Affairs, PJTSAU, Dr. G. Padmaja as chief guest. On her address, she emphasized that women should utilize all the opportunities for the development and they should be courageous whatever the situation may be. In the present day, women are playing many roles successfully. Attending as the special guest, Smt Vrushali Reddy, Clinical Psychologist, Hyderabad told the women and girls gathered there that proper planning is very important in accomplishing the multiple tasks. She also reiterated that saving the money and investing properly will give economic comfort to women. Dr. B. Padmaja, along with other NSS Programme Officers and Associate Dean’s Representatives to the RAWE programme organsied the event. The Sarpanch, Sri B. Sathaiah, Deputy Sarpanch, Sri Dayanand Gupta, President, SHG (DWACRA), Smt Lavanya participated in the programme. The NSS volunteers (45 girls) represented the multifaceted women of today’s world in the form of ‘rangoli’ and echoed slogans on empowerment of women. Competitions were conducted for the school children and women of the village on various aspects like essay writing and elocution and prizes were distributed by the University officials and office bearers of the village. During the first six days of the NSS special camp, various programmes like health camp, tree plantation, soil sampling, Swachh Bharat, rallys, field diagnostic visits, awareness programme on health and nutrition, prevention measures to corona virus, plastic free environment, economic survey were organized by the NSS scheme, College of Agriculture, Rajendranagar from 2-7th March, 2020. The NSS Programme Officers, Dr. B. Padmaja, Dr. T. Lavanya, Dr. B. V. Varaprasad, Dr. K. Pavan Chandra Reddy, Dr. S. Ameer Basha, Dr. A. Meena, Dr. K. Aruna and Associate Dean Representatives to the RAWE programme, Dr. D. Shivani and Dr. G. S. Madhu Bindu organized the camp and conducted the programmes. The health camp was attended by around 300 villagers and 130 patients (elderly people) were screened for blood pressure and diabetes and were given medicines and they would be treated free for life time. The villagers felt that the above programmes would help in the improvement of the village environment, agricultural productivity and health of the people of the village.
