Collaborations


The Director International Programmes at PJTSAU handles all the collaborations and links with respect to National / and International for Education and Research programs. The institute is looking beyond traditional R & D metrics and is engaging Private R & D organizations to promote research that makes a difference to today’s demands in Agriculture.

The team @ PJTSAU is all equipped and encourages National and International collaborations to explore the new horizons arising from the Global, National, Regional and Domestic level innovations and discoveries to influence the Agricultural sector. PJTSAU promotes the process of actively partnering with the International Universities and Organizations to effectively utilize and apply the University's knowledge, resources and expertise to mutually address the needs and problems faced by the global society.

Objectives


Facilitate collaborative faculty and student exchange and research to address issues and problems of global significance.

Extend the University's international engagement through research programs designed in collaboration with faculty from international organizations, institutions.

Enhance access to world-wide information through extensive resources as well as the exchange of print and electronic media through international networks.

Build strong and effective international alumni network to promote international research, education and related goals of the university.



Collaboration with State Level National and International Institutes



The University has developed close linkages with several National Organizations like, Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), University Grants Commission (UGC) and the Government of India. PJTSAU actively participates in collaborative research programs with most of the All India Co-ordinated Research Projects (AICRP) for which funds are received from ICAR. Apart from research funding, ICAR also provides financial assistance for education, student amenities, for equipping the existing laboratories etc. A number of workshops of the Co-ordinated Research Projects have been arranged by the University in collaboration with ICAR and other agencies. The University conducts summer institutes with the financial assistance from ICAR. The ICAR also provides funds for the Frontline Extension and Transfer of Technology programs like Operational Research Projects (ORP), National Demonstration Schemes (NDS), Lab to Land and Land to Lab etc.

PJTSAU has linkages with other Agricultural Universities in India and is a member of the Indian Agricultural Universities Association and Association of Indian Universities. This helps to exchange of printed material, information etc. Postgraduate students of this University have access to expertise and facilities present in local ICAR Institutes like the Indian Institute of Rice Research (IIRR) Indian Institute of Oilseeds Research (IIOR), Indian Institute of Millets Research (IIMR), Central Research Institute for Dryland Agriculture (CRIDA), National Remote Sensing Agency, (NRSA), National Academy of Agricultural Research Management (NAARM), National Institute of Nutrition (NIN), Indian Institute of Chemical Technology (IICT) etc. In pursuit of excellence, PJTSAU staff do undergo training in some specific courses organized by National Academy of Agricultural Research Management (NAARM). Several senior members of PJTSAU often deliver guest lectures at all these Institutes at Hyderabad and other locations.

The University has a Memorandum of Understanding with the Centre of DNA Finger Printing and Diagnostics, Hyderabad besides ICRISAT. PJTSAU has established good linkages with State Departments of Agriculture, Horticulture, Animal Husbandry, Irrigation Command Area Development, Tribal Welfare, Forestry, Women Welfare etc., and Corporations like A. P. State Seed Corporation, A. P. Dairy Development Cooperative Federation, A. P. Meat and Poultry Corporation etc.

The linkages between Professor Jaya Shankar Telangana State Agricultural University and State Department of Agriculture (SDA) are at two levels:


(a) Research and Extension Coordination Committee


This Committee, with Director of Agriculture as Chairman, has Deans, Directors and Senior Scientists of Professor Jaya Shankar Telangana State Agricultural University and Senior Officials of State Department of Agriculture as members. It is responsible for promotion of Research and Extension programmes of the University


(b) Research and Extension Advisory Council (REAC)


The Vice-Chancellor of PJTSAU is the Chairperson for this committee. Director of Extension, Director of Agriculture, Director of Animal Husbandry, three farmers, four members of Board of Management (BOM) of PJTSAU and all the Associate Directors of Research (ADRs) act as members of the REAC. This council suggests the research strategies based on feedback on the problems encountered by the farmers of the state.

Usually, before Kharif and Rabi seasons in a year, the pre-seasonal work-shops are held at District level and State level wherein the scientists of PJTSAU, ICAR and other institutions and officers of the SDA participate to thoroughly discuss the production programs, for the districts.

The Zonal Research and Extension Advisory Council (ZREAC) consisting of ADR, Scientists of the Zone, Officials of State Department of Agriculture like joint Director, Deputy Director and Assistant Director of Agriculture and representatives of farmers of the zone meet and discuss the field problems of the zone; this exercise is made just before Kharif or Rabi seasons to finalize the technical programmes of work for these two seasons separately.Apart from ZREAC meetings, Joint Diagnostic Teams are constituted from time to time for investigation of specific problems, which require immediate attention in the zone involving both scientists of the University and officials of State Department of Agriculture.The University also has established linkages with the Non-Governmental organization (NGOs) in the state that are directly concerned with the Agricultural and Rural Development.
