D.A.A.T.T.C., Karimnagar organized “Awareness programme on IPM practices in maize” and “Live method demonstration on poison bait technique” on 29-07-2021 at Jagtial District

DAATTC Karimnagar has organized an Awareness programme on IPM practices in maize and live method demonstration on poison bait technique, sand & lime application under IPM practices for the management of Fall Army Worm in maize at Bhushanraopet village (18°44'22"N 78°39'40"E) of Kathalapur mandal in Jagtial District where the farmer maize field was affected with incidence of FAW. Sri. K. Shekar, Coordinator & Scientist (CP), DAATTC, Karimnagar has created awareness among the farmers on importance of sowing window in maize, IPM practices for FAW management by emphasizing on importance of installation of pheromone traps, poison bait preparation method, whorl spray technique & precautions, benefits of poison bait technique under cost effective method that it can be carried out at mid whorl to late whorl stage (31- 65 days old crop). Dr. K. Madan Mohan Reddy, Scientist (ToT) has explained ICT tools, YouTube channel, and AKPS service for benefiting farmers through advisories. In the field live demonstration was organized by the scientists on method of preparation of poison bait (10 kg bran+ 2 kg Jaggery and 100 gm Thiodicarb 50% WP per 0.4 ha), Sand: lime mixture (9:1). Then the application procedure of poison bait in maize whorls by involving all the farmers was done. Smt. Yogitha, MAO, Kathalapur, AEO's Smt. Fameena Yasmin & Sri. Shekar, ZPTC, Kathalapur Sri. Nagam Bhoomaiah, MPTC, Sri. K. Anjaneyulu, Sarpanch, Smt. Sulochana, Rythu Samanvaya Samithi Coordinator, Sri. B. Mahender and Progressive farmers, maize growing farmers, media personnel were participated in this programme.
