DAATTC, Karimnagar organized Field Day on Demonstration of Alternate Wetting and Drying Method in Rice under Season Long Vocational Training Programme on 11-11-2019

The field day on "Demonstration on Alternate Wetting and Drying in Irrigated Rice" was conducted on 11.11.2019 at Nyalakondapalli and Kondannapalli Villages of Gangadhara Mandal of Karimnagar district, under Season Long Vocational Training Programme by DAATTC, Karimnagar in association with ATMA, Karimnagar. A Joint field visit to the demonstration plots in farmer's field of R.Anjaiah was organized to show the practical AWD field to the other farmers of the Nyalakondapalli & Kondannapalli village also to the AWD beneficiaries and other farmers of villages. Dr. I. Aruna Sri, Coordinator, DAATTC briefed the salient features of AWD method from last three seasons along with advantages in terms of reduced incidence of BPH, other pest and diseases. Dr. P. Revathi, Scientist addressed the gathering on importance of irrigation water, she suggested the farmers not to exploit water sources for the sake of rice suggested alternate crops under irrigated dry situations viz. Sesame, Bengal gram, Mustard etc. Sri.K.Shekar, Scientist (Crop Production), DAATTC, Karimnagar organized field day and briefed about the importance of AWD to the farmers and explained farmers opinions who adopted this method in four villages (Nyalakondapalli, Kondannapalli Villages of Gangadhara Mandal Kokkerakunta and Deshrajpalli of Ramadugu mandal). Explained crop condition during the kharif season and created awareness on benefits of AWD method compared to conventional method. PD, ATMA, Karimnagar addressed the gathering and sensitized the farmers in using less irrigation water, required dose of fertilizers for raising the crops. Farmers expressed their difficulties in maintaining irrigation to the demo plots as there were continuous rains during last two months. Dr.K.Madan Mohan , Scientist conveyed formal vote of thanks for the session. Mandal Agricultural Officer Raju, Sarpanch R.Jamuna, Upasarpanch of Kondannaplli (R), AEO's and staff of Department of Agriculture, ATMA BTM, ATM’S farmers from the villages were participated.
