Demonstration cum Training programme on Machine transplanting in seed production plots of rice at Nagireddypalli village by ARS, Tornala on 22-01-2021

A demonstration cum training programme on “Machine transplanting in seed production plots of rice” was organized by Dr. A.V. Ramanjaneyulu, Dr. E. Umarani from ARS, Tornala, Mr. J. Vijay, DAATTC, Tornala and Dr. P. Rajaiah, Principal Scientist (Agril. Engg.) and Head, AICRP on FIM scheme, Rajendranagar at Nagireddypalli village of Kondapaka mandal, Siddipet district on 22-01-2021. It was organized with an objective of demonstrating and training the farmers in quality seed production of rice, to overcome labour scarcity and increasing labour wages thus cost of production. Mr. Prabhakar Reddy, RSS President, Sri, Bhoomi Reddy, Mr. Buchi Ram Reddy, Rtd. DSP and a total of 40 farmers from Nagireddypalli, Ibrahimpur (adopted village), Goplapur and Tornala villages attended the programme. At the outset, Dr. A.V. Ramanjaneyulu, Sr. Scientist (Agro.) & Head, ARS, Tornala gave brief note on increasing labour problem and importance of farm mechanization in rice. He also explained nursery raising techniques, pros and cons of different rice planting methods and other agronomic techniques. Dr. P. Rajaiah explained about availability and cost of different paddy transplanters in India. He also explained about custom hiring of machines, precautions to be followed in raising nursery, field preparation and benefits out of machine transplanting. He also answered queries raised by visiting farmers about efficiency of transplanting machine, cost, operational maintenance. Farmers were demonstrated three methods of planting viz., machine transplanting, direct seeding and drum seeding rice at Nagireddypalli village. Later by Dr. E. Umarani, Scientist (Pl. Br.) has emphasized on participatory seed production and procedures to be followed by the farmers to produce quality seed and discussed about seed availability (RNR-15048 and JGL-24423) for kharif, 2021 at ARS, Tornala.
