Distribution of minikit seed to the farmers of Siddipet district at DAATTC, Tornala on 26-06-2020

A programme was organized at DAATTC (ARS), Tornala on 26-06-2020 where in seeds of five fine grain rice varieties (KNM-1638, JGL-28545, JGL-27356, WGL-962 and WGL-1119), one maize hybrid (BH-416215), one redgram variety (WRG-255) and two sesame varieties (JCS-3265 and JCS-3287) were distributed to 14 farmers from five villages viz., Tornala, Irkode, Ibrahimpur, Mundroi and Shivaipally of Siddipet district, on the hands of Dr. A.V. Ramanjaneyulu, Sr. Scientist (Agro) & Head, Dr. R. Srinivasa Rao, Scientist (Crop Production), Mr. Y. Devaiah, Sarpanch, Tornala and Mr. K. Devaiah, Sarpanch, Ibrahimpur. All the scientists of ARS, Tornala participated in the programme. At the outset, Dr. A.V. Ramanjaneyulu has explained about the importance of minikits, regular visits of scientists to the demonstration sites and feed back required from the beneficiary farmers which helps the scientists to fine tune the same before releasing the varieties. Further, he also requested the farmers to visit and discuss the problems in Agriculture with the scientists. Dr. R. Srinivasa Rao has explained about the characteristic features of minikit varieties of rice, maize, sesame and redgram and informed them that DAATTC scientists will reach as many no. of farmers as possible in near future.
