Exposure visit of Ibrahimpur farmers (adopted village of ARS, Tornala) to Kisan mela at RARS, Warangal on 25-11-2019

An exposure visit with 14 farmers of Ibrahimpur village (an adopted village of ARS, Tornala), Narayanaraopet mandal, Siddipet district, was organized by Dr. A.V. Ramanjaneyulu, Sr. Scientist (Agro.) & Head and Mrs. D. Sravanthi, Scientist (Agro.) and Dr. E. Umarani, Scientist (Pl. Br.), ARS, Tornala, on 25-11-2019 to Kisan mela held at RARS, Warangal.The visiting farmers were exposed to latest varieties of rice, greengram, redgram, cotton and maize displayed by RARS, Warangal and 50 different private companies. The farmers have witnessed spraying on redgram crop with drone demonstrated by Bhadradri spraying drones company. Spraying with tractor operated boom sprayer which can cover 12 m crop width was also witnessed by the farmers. Besides, wheel type push seed drill which can be used for sowing of maize, redgram etc., in a small area of 1-2 acres was demonstrated by a practicing Warangal farmer. Various pesticides and machinery stalls displayed by private companies were also visited by the farmers. In a farmer-scientist interaction meeting arranged in Kisan mela, scientists of Central Telangana Zone have explained to the farmers about integrated approaches to control fall army in maize, pink boll worm in cotton, methods to reduce excessive fertilizer use in chilly and other fields crops and cost reduction technologies in various crops. Farmers were very much impressed by the exposure visit to Kisan mela and learnt many unknown aspects of Agriculture.
