Exposure Visit and Farmer Scientist Interaction Programme at Agricultural College, Jagtial on 11-10-2019

As part of Village Adoption Programme, Agricultural college, Jagtial has organized an exposure visit to the progressive farmers of Gullapet village, Jagtial on 11.10.2019.The farmers were exposed to Agricultural Experiential Learning units and Research experimental plots in the college farm. The AELP directors and students explained about their activities on sweet corn production technology, vegetable cultivation under poly house, vermicompost production technology and cocoon production through mulberry cultivation. The farmers were also made aware about the aerobic rice cultivation through drip irrigation. Later Farmer –scientist interaction session was organised. Dr.D.Raji Reddy, Director of Extension attended as chief guest and explained about the identifying and construction of the village map of resources, crop suitability map, fertility status map, socio economic survey, integration of line departments for sanitation, health for developing a model village. The Associate Director of Research, Dr.R.Umareddy explained about the application techniques for fertilizers and insecticides and importance of correct dates of sowing. Later the Associate Dean, Dr.K.B.Suneetha Devi explained about the village adoption programme activities carried out and future action plan. Dr.M. Balram, Professor and Head, GPBR explained about the on farm seed production techniques in different crops. The Gullapet village Sarpanch, Sri. Thirupati garu and MPTC Sri. Surendhar garu asked to create awareness on importance of soil testing and newly released varieties. Dr.T.Sravan kumar informed regarding the subscription of You tube channel (PJTSAU Agricultural videos) and Yyasayam magazine. The farmers have given their feed back regarding the exposure visit. A total of thirty (30) farmers and scientists were attended.
