Training Programme on Farm Implementable Technologies for enhancing livelihood of farmers on 08-02-2020 at Agricultural College, Polasa, Jagtial

One day Training programme on “Farm Implementable Technologies for enhancing livelihood of farmers” was organized at Agricultural College, Jagtial on 08.02.2020 with the financial assistance from ICAR under SC-Sub Plan scheme 2019-2020. Dr.K.B.Suneetha Devi, Associate Dean, Agricultural College, Jagtial inaugurated and addressed scheduled caste farmers about latest technologies and management practices for profitable farming through enhancing productivity and reducing input costs. Dr. P. Swarna Sree, Professor & Head (Entomology) explained the importance of mustard cultivation which is a newly introduced crop in northern Telangana zone. Dr. M. Balram, Professor & Head (GPBR) suggested the farmers to cultivate resistant varieties to blast disease and BPH in paddy to reduce the cost of cultivation on management practices. Further, Dr.K.B.Suneetha Devi, Associate Dean, in technical session exposed the farmers to drone technology, vertical farming, weather tracking, machine transplanting in paddy and alternate wetting and drying in paddy. Dr.N.Mahesh, Assistant Professor (Agronomy) delivered about technological advances in irrigation and fertigation. Dr.G.Satyanarayana Reddy, Assistant Professor (Agronomy) created awareness on usage of different herbicides in major crops. N.Navatha, Scientist (Agronomy) enlighten farmers about importance of fodder crops and their management practices. Later, bio fertilizers were distributed to the farmers. Farmers visited mustard field and fodder crop varieties. The final year students undergoing the AELP programme explained about production technologies of sweet corn. About 20 scheduled caste farmers were participated in the programme.
