Farmers - Scientists interaction meeting / Kisan Mela Organised at RARS Warangal on 25-11-2019

Farmers Scientist Interaction / Kisan mela has been organised at Regional Agricultural Research Station, Warangal on 25th November, 2019. The meeting was held under the Chairmanship of Dr. P. Jagan Mohan Rao, Associate Director of Research, RARS, Warangal. District Collector & Magistrate Warangal Rural attended the Programme as Chief Guest and Inaugurated and visited the Exhibition Stalls, Mechanization Implements, tractors etc. The Programme started with Lighting of Lamp followed by Invocation of University Song. In his opening remarks Dr P Jagan Mohan Rao, Associate Director of Research, RARS, Warangal briefed the farmer participants about the objectives of the meeting, achievements in Research at RARS, Warangal. Varieties and technologies developed and also briefed about the latest Central and State released varieties and status of present research at RARS, Warangal. Finally, urged the farmers to interact on all technical matters to identify the priority issues. Dr T Pradeep, Director (Seeds) graced the occasion and requested the farmers to make use of latest technologies specially new varieties, mechanization and in future drone technology will play key role in agriculture. Emphasized on market driven agriculture for sustainability and profitability. Smt M. Haritha District Collector and Magistrate Warangal (Rural) addressing the gathering congratulated the RARS Scientists of PJTSAU for organizing such an event, asked the farmers to take full benefit of the technologies and varieties developed by the University. Also asked the farmers to adopt for mechanisation in all crops and low cost machinery specially for small and marginal farmers are made available. Further requested farmers to adopt crop rotation and also soil test passed fertilizer application for high yields and urged for adoption of water saving technologies in various crops for natural resource conservation. Pamphlet on newly released paddy variety WGL-739, pink boll worm management in cotton and booklet on pulses management were released on this occasion. Major topics of current issues. Like fall army warm management in Maize, Chillies, Turmeric pests & diseases, Weed management, importance of millets, Rabi paddy varieties , mechanization in rice, Judicious use of fertilizers etc., along with the queries raised by the farmers were covered by the respective crop/Theme Principal Scientists. Farmers expressed satisfaction over the proceeding / conduct of Farmers Scientists interaction Kisan Mela. About 1000 farmers all over the Zone (erstwhile Khammam, Warangal and Medak) participated in the meeting. All the scientist from Central Telangana Zone and about 60 officials from Agril and line departments participated in the meeting. PJTSAU (RARS, KVK’s), Dept. Of Agriculture, Horticulture, IIMR, Hyderabad and various private leading Seeds/Pesticides/Fertilizers companies participated and exhibited their products/technologies/ services about 50 stalls were exhibited. Apart from the stalls more than 10 farm implement firms displayed their tractors, farm implements sprayers specially boom sprayer. Of all the exhibits handmade fertilizer applicator, china fertilizers cum seed drill and drone sprayer remained the centre of attraction. All were demonstrated to the farmers in presence of District Collector. The meeting ended with formal felicitation to progressive farmers in the zone who are adopting & promoting University technologies and promoting innovations in their farming
