Fertiliser Orientation Course Organised at Agricultural College Palem on 13-09-2019

On 13.09.2013 the Fertilizer Association of India (FAI) in collaboration with PJTSAU, Agricultural College, Palem conducted one day fertilizer orientation course to B.Sc (Hons.) Ag, final and pre final students of Agricultural college, Palem. In the opening remarks Mr. Y. V. N. Murthy, Regional Head, FAI – Southern Region explained about the objectives of the programme and urged the students to benefit from the orientation. Dr. P. Raghu Rami Reddy, Associate Dean delivered key note address and stated that formers are the backbone of Indian economy and role of fertilizer in increasing The agricultural output cannot be ignored and fertilizer alone is considered to account for nearly one-half of the increased productivity. The Associate Dean emphasized on integrated use of organic manures with chemical fertilizers for higher fertilizer use efficiency. Dr. K. Avil Kumar, recalled back his college days and stressed the importance of this orientation programmes in securing the employment. Dr. P. C. Rao, former Dean of Agriculture, given detail account of evolution of fertilizer industry in India vis-à-vis food production. Dr. Rao shared thoughts of site specific nutrient management, speciality fertilizers, drip fertigation and soil test based fertilizer application. Senior input industry personnel from Netafim, Coramandel, SPIC, and RCF limited delivered lectures in the orientation. The meeting ended with the vote of thanks by Dr. G. Jayasree, Professor (SS&AC).
