Training programme on "Fertilizer Policy for Sustaining Soil Health - Role of Fertigation" at Water Technology Centre, PJTSAU, Rajendranagar on 21-07-2022

The Fertiliser Association of India(FAI), Southern Region, and Professor Jayashankar Telangana State Agricultural University (PJTSAU) has jointly organised one day training programme on "Fertilizer policy for sustaining soil health - Role of Fertigation" at Water technology centre, in PJTSAU campus at Rajendranagar on 21-07-2022. Dr. V. Praveen Rao, Vice Chancellor, PJTSAU, has attended as chief guest for inaugural session, and spoke on the occasion. While speaking at trainees Dr Rao said that, there is a need of collective effort by all of us to educate the farmers to encourage the judicious use of fertilizer. He advised the students agricultural sciences to think & formulate innovative approaches for ensuring the sustainability of the agricultural sector in the country. Precision agriculture is one of the best practice for reducing the indiscriminate use of chemical fertiliser for crops. It is very essential for enabling of environmental friendly agriculture. Further, Dr Rao, stated that, the crop diversification is also essential for optimal use of Fertilizer. Fertigation is very much useful in applying of fertilizer as and when required for the crops during the crop development stages, he added. G.V Subba Reddy, Vice President Coromandel fertilisers, has spoke on the occasion and he said that, the Fertiliser use efficiency has to be improved on this line all the stakeholders have to put efforts for educating the farmers. In view of this fertigation is best practice which can enhance 60 to 70 percent of the use efficiency he added. YVN Murthy, Regional Head, FAI, southern region, Chennai, has spoke about Impact of Fertilizer policy on soil health - Need of paradigm shift in policy. Dr R Jagadeeshwar, Director of Research, PJTSAU and several PG & PhD students, representatives from various companies and agricultural faculty attend the training programme.
