Field day on “Machine transplanted Rice” at Khanapur village, Siddipet dist. on 05-12-2019 by ARS, Tornala

A field day on “Machine transplanted Rice” was organized by Mrs. D. Sravanthi, Scientist (Agro.) and Dr. A.V. Ramanjaneyulu, Sr. Scientist (Agro.) & Head, Agricultural Research Station, Tornala on 05-12-2019 at Khanapur village, Nangunur mandal, Siddipet district. Besides, Ch.Shirisha, A.E.O, T. Bhavani Prasad, B.T.M. from Department of Agriculture, host farmer S.Janardhan Reddy and 19 other farmers of the village also participated in the field day. It was conducted to improve the awareness of farmers regarding associated advantages by showing the rice crop planted with machine during kharif, 2019 in khanapur village. Mrs. D. Sravanthi gave an overview about machine transplanting in rice using kubota/ yanmar transplanting machines. She also added that machine transplanting, harvesting and threshing helps to save 25 labour and 7.6 hours of time and net returns of Rs.7097 per acre. Dr. A.V. Ramanjaneyulu told that machine transplanting ensures timely planting and harvest with less labour and avoids competition among farmers for labour during peak labour requirement. It also helps to cover more area in less time thus ensures transplanting within the optimum planting window. The research results also showed saving of water and less pest and diseases. The host farmer S.Janardhan reddy shared his experience saying that though machine transplanting is good with regards to saving of labour and increasing the yield, their availability should be increased at village level by giving subsidy from government.
