Field Day on Warangal Vari-1 (WGL-915) organized by AICRP on Rice, RARS, Warangal at Kaniparthy (V), Jayashankar Bhupalpally District on 29-11-2019

Field day was organized on 29.11.2019 at Kaniparthy (V), Regonda (M), Jayashankar Bhupalpally District under the chairmanship of Dr. P.Jagan Mohan Rao, Associate Director of Research, Regional Agricultural Research Station, Warangal. Scientists from Rice section, RARS, Warangal – Dr. S. Malathi, Dr. U.Nagabhushanam, Dr. B. Satish Chandra; Dr. E. Srinivas, Coordinator, DAATTC, Sri. Vijay, Scientist, DAATTC, Warangal attended the meeting. Sri B. Sudhakar, Sarpanch, Smt. Ponnam Laxmi Ravi, MPP, Kumari Sushma Kona Rao, MPTC, Kunta Thirupathi, Sarpanch, Nagurlapally, Sri Odelu, Sarpanch, Repakapally, Sri. P.Vasudeva Reddy, MAO, Regonda participated in the programme. About 100 farmers attended the field day. The field day was conducted in Demonstration plot raised by Sri Nadipelly Thirupathi Rao, as Front Line Demonstration, 2019-20 under AICRIP on Rice sponsored by National Food Security Mission. The FLD farmer addressed the gathering and gave positive feedback about the variety. He informed the house that he observed non lodging character in WGL 915 especially when lodging was observed in many other varieties grown in the village in Kharif, 2019. He also informed the house that low incidence of pests and diseases were observed and is expecting to reap 45-50 bags per acre. Dr. P. Jagan Mohan Rao, Associate Director of Research, Regional Agricultural Research Station, Warangal addressed the gathering and emphasized the importance of judicious use of irrigation water, cultivation of irrigated dry crops for ensuing rabi season and suggested to follow crop rotation. Later, knowledge on “Warangal Vari-1 (WGL-915) variety and its characteristics, Suitable varieties for rabi season, nursery management, plant protection tips for ensuing rabi, importance of alternate methods of rice cultivation” was imparted to the farmers, by the rice team of RARS, Warangal. Dr. E.Srinivas, Coordinator, DAATTC, Warangal created awareness on other profitable rabi crops for present situations.
