Girl Child Day on 24-1-2020 at College of Agriculture, PJTSAU, Rajendrangar

The Government of India has started National Girl Child Day to bring equality in society as a campaign. This campaign aims to make people aware of girls across the country. Also, its objective is to tell people that women have an equal contribution to building society. People from all walks of life are included and made aware that girls should also have the right to make decisions. Girls Child Day is celebrated every year on January 24 across the country. Its objective is to provide maximum support and facilities to the girls of the country in every respect. Apart from this, another objective of National Girl Child Day is to raise awareness about discrimination against girls. It is believed that girls have been facing discrimination and violence in every aspect of life since ancient times. Now, it is time to give them their due rights. The government of India has brought several acts and made several amendments in the constitution to bring equality in society.

Programme conducted:
In this connection, with the guidance of the Associate Dean, Dr. Seema, a rangoli competition was organized at College of Agriculture, PJTSAU, Rajendranagar with the theme “ Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao” to bring attitudinal changes among youth NSS volunteers /students in favour of the girl child. The competiton was witnessed by the staff and NSS volunteers of the College. Later, a meeting was conducted and the importance and role of women in building the society was explained to the students and a ralley was organized with them giving the slogans on girl child like “Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao”, “Respect Women”, “ girls are angels, save them”, etc. NSS volunteers of thired year BSc (Hons.) Agriculture participated in the programme. The NSS Programme Officers, Dr. B. Padmaja, Dr. K. Aruna, Dr. K. Meena and Dr. Ameer Pasha organized the programme.
