COVID-19 is an infectious disease causing mild to moderate respiratory illness. Persons with underlying medical problems like cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, chronic respiratory diseases and cancer are more likely to develop serious illness. The best way to prevent and slow down transmission is protecting ourselves and others from infection is by washing your hands or using alcohol-based sanitizers frequently and not touching your face. Also, the use of face masks when in public should be adapted as an etiquette. The COVID-19 virus spreads primarily through saliva droplets or nose discharge when an infected person coughs or sneezes. Hence, a training program on Nutri garden and nutri thali was conducted by KVK scientists, Dr. Jessie Suneetha W, Dr. P. Sri Ranjitha and Mrs. P. S. M. Phanisri at tribal villages of Rangapuram and Timmaraopeta under Enkoor mandal, Khammam Dt. on 19.09.2020 as part of Nutri Maah and Tribal sub plan. Dr. Jessie Suneetha W demonstrated how a mask should be used, immune boosting foods and personal hygiene measures to protect ourselves. Dr. P. Sri Ranjitha explained about types of fruit and vegetable crops that can be grown in yasangi to improve the body immunity. Mrs, P. S. M. Phanisri talked about organic way of protecting the vegetables from pests grown at home. The scientists also visited the kitchen gardens grown with seeds distributed under TSP in the village.
