India Post Payment Bank Services at Agricultural College, Warangal on 05-02-2020

A seminar on "India Post Payment Bank (IPPB) and online banking services" was organised at Agricultural College, Warangal on 05.02.2020. Mr.Sajjan Kumar Gannarapu, Senior Branch Manager explained in detail about the importance of Financial services to the students and teaching and non-teaching staff. He started by introducing the concept of Financial Inclusion whose main aim was to provide financial products and services to the illiterate, low income and rural unbanked people in the society for inclusive development in India. Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana is one such scheme which augments financial inclusion. 35000 crore accounts were opened but 85% became inoperative. The main reason for this was one third of the villages in India are still without a bank. Therefore the Government of India realized that since there are 1,50,000 post offices spread across the country, banking services can be offered through post offices. Many schemes of national importance are routed through Post Offices especially in rural areas. Mr. A. Saikiran Asst.Manager further explained about different saving schemes and online postal services and encouraged the students to start savings and use the post office for their banking transactions. The meeting was attended by Associate Dean, Dr. T. Ramesh, Smt. Sharada Devi, Administrative Officer, Dr. J. Kamalakar, Smt.P.Madhavi, Dr.G.Swathi, Dr.A.Samarpitha Dr.A. VenkatRam, Post office Manager Smt. Manohara and other non teaching staff members.
