Kisan Mela as part of the Kisan Bhagidari -Prathamikta Hamari Campaign – Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav at KVK, Malyal on 26-04-2022

KVK, Malyal organized “Kisan Mela” in collaboration with ATMA - as part of the Kisan Bhagidari Prathamikta Hamari Campaign – Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav at KVK, Malyal premises on 26-04-2022. The programme started with inauguration and visit to stalls exhibited by KVK, Malyal, HRS, Malyal and other private companies followed by live webcasting of speech by Sri Narendra Singh Thomar, Hon’ble Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare on the concept of Natural Farming and the theme of the day. Dr. S. Malathi, Programme Coordinator, KVK, Malyal explained the significance of the programme, importance of natural farming, organic farming and participatory role of farmers from seed purchase to seed sale and conversion of agricultural produce to the ultimate end product, concept of one district one product and promoted by the Government.Dr. R. Uma Reddy, Associate Director of Research, CTZ, RARS, Warangal acted as Chief Guest for the programme and addressed the gathering - farmers should aim at increasing their net income levels rather than mere yields levels. They should give importance to best management practices and implement them instead of always searching for new varieties. He reiterated the importance of growing millets, oilseeds ensuring sufficient crop diversification and attaining self sufficiency. Dr. B. Ram Prasad, Sr. Scientist (Cotton), RARS, Warangal explained about high density planting in Cotton and IPM in Chilli. Sri K. Bhasker, Scientist (Pl. Br.) & Head, HRS, Malyal also explained about integrated management practices in Chilli as well as measures to be taken while purchasing seed. Sri Raghavendra Rao, Lead Bank Manager, Mahabubabad suggested the rythu bandhu beneficiaries to renew the crop insurance for getting crop loans. Sri B. Chatru Naik, DAO, Mahabubabad district spoke about the importance of crop diversification for getting higher returns instead of mono cropping and use of green manure crops for betterment of soil health condition. Smt. Anitha Sri, HO, Dornakal explained about subsidy pattern for oil palm cultivation in Telangana state. Later, the farmers advocating natural farming Sri Ashok, Somaram Village, Thorrur Mandal and organic farming Sri G. Dhamodhar Reddy, Kalvala Village, Kesamudram Mandal shared their experiences and were felicitated on this occasion. In this programme, KVK Scientists Dr. N. Kishore Kumar, SMS (Extension), Dr. E. Rambabu, SMS (Horticulture), Smt. A. Ramulamma, SMS (Plant Protection), Smt. D. Usha Sri, SMS (Agromet), Smt. Sindhuja, Scientist (Hort.), HRS, Malyal, Sri M. Laxminarayana, ADA, Mahabubabad, Sri K. Shobhan Babu, ADA, Maripeda, 5 no.of MAOs, 2 no.of HOs, 34 no.of AEOs, Sri Nehru Reddy, ATMA Chairman, Mahabubabad, public representatives Sri SK. Mahaboob Pasha, ZP Co-option member, Mahabubabad, Smt. A. Kumari, Sarpanch, Malyal and 258 no.of farmers participated.Also,on this occasion, masks sponsored by Reliance Foundation were distributed to the participant farmers.
