KVK, Malyal organized 3 days Skill Training on “Vermicompost preparation” under Tribal Sub Plan, 2020-21

KVK, Malyal organized 3 days Skill Training Programme on “Vermicompost preparation” from 22nd to 24th March, 2021 at Rythu Vedika, Gudur and KVK, Malyal under Tribal Sub Plan, 2020-21 to the Rural Youth. The training started with inaugural session on 22-03-2021 at Rythu Vedika, Gudur. Dr. S. Malathi, Programme Coordinator, KVK, Malyal explained about the need and importance of the programme and suggested the farmers to take up vermicompost preparation on small scale to meet their farm needs and also to start entrepreneurship. Smt. A. Sarala Kumari, Associate Professor (Foods & Nutrition) (Rtd.), PJTSAU participated as guest and explained about the growing organic manure. Smt. A. Ramulamma, SMS (Plant Protection) gave lecture on “Nutritive value of vermicompost” & “Enemies and problems in vermicompost preparation”. On 2nd day (23-03-2021) Dr. E. Rambabu, SMS (Horticulture) conducted Exposure Visit to Teja Vermicompost Unit, Mutthagudem, Khammam district and showed live demonstration to the participants. Sri Rami Reddy, vermicompost entrepreneur acted as resource person and explained about Vermi Unit construction, conditions required for maintenance of earth worms and production expenditure, etc. On 3rd day (23-03-2021) sessions were carried out at KVK, Malyal and Sri B. Kranthi Kumar, SMS (Crop Production) and delivered lecture on “Wastage required for preparation of vermicompost” and “Different vermicompost products”. Dr. R. Uma Reddy, Associate Director of Research, CTZ, RARS, Warangal acted as Chief Guest for the valedictory session. In this session, feedback was taken from the trainees. He addressed the farmers to make use of the knowledge gained in the programme. Later, ‘certificates’ were distributed to the trainees. On this occasion, Portable Vermi beds purchased under TSP, 2019-20 were distributed to the farmer beneficiaries by the Associate Director of Research. KVK, Malyal Programme Coordinator Dr. S. Malathi and Scientists Dr. E. Rambabu, SMS (Horticulture), Smt. A. Ramulamma, SMS (Plant Protection) and Sri B. Kranthi Kumar, SMS (Crop Production) and 44 No.of Rural Youth from 4 TSP Villages (Polaram, Bothavanigudem of Kothaguda Mandal and Mattewada, Nelavancha of Gudur Mandal) were participated in the programme.
