Mahaparinirwan Diwas, the 64th death anniversary of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar was organized at Agricultural College, Sircilla, Rajanna Sircilla District. The officer in-charge of SC-ST cell, Mrs. K. Bhavya Sree conducted the proceedings of the programme with a brief introduction of the reason behind Dr. B.R. Ambedkar’s death anniversary associated with the word ‘Mahaparinirwan’, which is a sanskrit word meaning ‘body attaining Nirvana’. Nirvana is very difficult to attain and it suggests that one has lived a pure and blessed life. Dr. B.R.Ambedkar’s followers believed that their guru was as influential, pure and blessed as lord Buddha and he did not have any karmic debt remaining because of his great works. This is the reason Dr. B.R.Ambedkar’s death anniversary is referred to as ‘Mahaparinirwan’ Day. Later, the Associate Dean, in-charge Dr. Razia Sultana madam addressed the gathering and motivated the students to follow the great ideas and ideologies of the eminent personality. She also said that Dr. B.R. Ambedkar was the only person to publish many books, articles and his last manuscript was ‘The Buddha and his Dharma’ and his soul left his body just a few days after completing his last work. She also suggested the students to be a model and follow the five principles of Buddhism - Wisdom, Kindness, Patience, Generosity and Compassion which can make a person into a better personality and a good human being. All the students, teaching, non-teaching and supporting staff maintained two minutes silence as an honour and remembering his great works. Later the programme was concluded by paying floral tributes to the architect of Indian constitution, Dr.B.R.Ambedkar.
