NSS Special camp by B.Sc. (Hons.) Agriculture Final year students of Agricultural College, Palem

NSS special camp for six days (06.09.2019 to 12.09.2019) inaugurated in Shainpally village, Bijinapally Mandal, Nagarkurnool district by Associate Dean, Dr. P. Raghu Rami Reddy in presence of village Sarpanch, Smt. A. Avanthi and other elected public representatives. The programme aimed at developing student’s personality through community service. At the outset, NSS Officer Dr. K. Charan Teja has given detail account of the activities to be taken up in the special camp. Smt. A. Avanthi, Village Sarpanch thanked the University and Agricultural College, Palem for selecting their village for village adoption programme as well as for NSS Special Camp. Sri. K. Rahul Viswakarma, Asst. Prof. (Village adoption member) urged villagers to participate in the programmes. Dr. T. Archana, Asst. Prof. (Village adoption Convener) thanked Sarpanch for their support and coordination in organizing the programme. Finally Associate Dean, Dr. P. Raghu Rami Reddy thoroughly explained about the activities that are taken up in village adoption programme. He informed that pre monsoon farmers training programme was conducted in the village. He also mentioned that plant protection measures were suggested in rice and cotton and also cotton stem applicators were distributed to the farmers. He also informed that fodder bank is already established in the village with the help of scientists from Agricultural College, Palem. He mentioned that vegetable seed kits were distributed to the 20 villagers for maintaining kitchen garden. He urged villagers to participate the programme and use the opportunities provided by the scientists and make it success. Later Haritha Haram programme was conducted where Associate Dean along with staff and students have planted 130 saplings in the village. A rally was conducted by staff and students to create awareness on soil health. The first day NSS Special camp ended with vote of thanks by Er. J. Veeranna, Asst. Professor & NSS Programme Officer.
