Distribution of seed of paddy (JGL -24423) and Hedge Lucerne (HL-1), demo on planting of APBN-1 slips and raising of marigold nursery in portrays -by Agricultural College, Sircilla

The core team of faculty of Agricultural College, Sircilla, visited adopted village (Narasimhulapalle) on 12-11-2020 for distribution of seed of paddy (JGL-24423) and Hedge Lucerne (HL-1), demo on planting of APBN-1 slips and raising of marigold nursery in protrays. In this programme the faculty including committee members of the village adoption programme, the farmers of the village and Sarpanch were participated. At the outset, Dr. K. Rajesh, Assistant Professor (Crop Phy.) and Co-ordinator, Village Adoption Programme addressed the gathering and explained about the importance of fodder crops and urged the farmers to take up cultivation of fodder crops on a large scale. Dr. K. Kanaka Durga, Associate Dean, enlightened farmers on improved rice varieties of PJTSAU and emphasized the need for promotion of fodder crops. As part of popularization of PJTSAU varieties, seed of rice variety JGL-24423 (Jagtial Rice-1) was distributed to selected farmers of the village. Dr. CH. Ramesh, Assistant Professor (Agro.) explained about the characters of the variety and the package to be adopted during ensuing rabi season. Dr. M. Shanti, Professor (SSAC) highlighted the importance of the fodder crops, method of planting, package of practices to be followed during crop period and demonstrated planting of APBN-1 slips in the farmer’s field. Dr. R. Sathish, Assistant Professor (Ento.) demonstrated the method of raising of nursery in protrays and explained in brief it’s advantages over the traditional methods of planting. He also pinpointed the precautions to be taken during raising of nursery. The programme ended by Sarpanch’s speech on the importance of the programme and instructed the farmers to follow timely advice as suggested by the committee members. On this occasion, Mr. T. Arunbabu, Assistant Professor (Agro.) proposed vote of thanks to the farmers and faculty.
