Agricultural College, Palem has organized an Anti-Ragging awareness programme on 07-05-2022. Associate Dean, Agricultural College, Palem, Dr. B. Pushpavathi has briefed about the Anti-Ragging measures followed in the campus as per the UGC regulations on curbing the menace of ragging in Higher Educational Institutions, 2009, Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India. Mr. Ch. Rameshwar, Additional Superintendent of Police, Nagarkurnool district was invited as guest speaker to this programme. Mr.Ch. Rameshwar had explained about the Telangana Prohibition of Ragging Act, 1997 (Act no. 26 of 1997) and informed the students regarding punishments against ragging. He stated that students involved in ragging incidents that causes death or abets suicide shall be punished with imprisonment for life or for a term which may extend to ten years in addition to a fine of upto fifty thousand rupees. Further, he stated that, if any student gets filed with a FIR, he/she will not be entitled for any government job and the same shall even be rejected for passport. He also added certain key issues on drugs, informed the students about stringent measures against use of drugs and also urged students to be cautious of the fake apps and report any fraudulent cases to the police immediately. Smt. T. Vijaya Laxmi, ASI and She-team in charge from Telangana State Police Department, Nagarkurnool District, has interacted with the B. Sc. (Hons.) Agriculture students on safety & protection measures to the women and informed the students with she-team contact no. 7901099466. Further, posters pertaining to women safety were released. Later, students interacted with Additional Superintendent of Police, Nagarkurnool district regarding ragging punishments, cybercrime issues, cybercrime apps and gave the feedback on this awareness programme mentioning that, they shall never indulge in ragging and make the campus ragging free. The Associate Dean, Agricultural College, Palem Dr. B. Pushpavathi had given concluding remarks by emphasizing the university regulations on Anti- ragging and Surveillance mechanism against ragging. A total of 218 B. Sc. (Hons.) Agriculture students have attended the programme along with teaching staff of Agricultural College, Palem. The programme was organized by Dr. S.Srinivasa Reddy, Assistant professor (Ento.) & OISA, Agricultural College, Palem.
