Exposure Visit of farmers of Sheriguda Bhadraipally, Kothur Mandal, Ranga Reddy

An exposure visit was arranged for the farmers of Sheriguda Bhadraipally village, Kothur Mandal, Ranga Reddy dt., which is the adopted village of the research wing of the University to appraise them of the latest advances in agricultural practices. The visit started with a meeting presided over by Dr.P.Raghu Rami Reddy, Principal Scientist (Rice) and Head of the village adoption scheme. The Guest of Honour was the Director of Research, Dr.R.Jagadeeshwar, who advised farmers to utilize the visit to know more about the on going research activities in various schemes. He urged the village adoption team to put more efforts to encourage farmers to follow sustainable and integrated agricultural practices including crop rotation, integrated pest management practices and many new technologies to make agriculture more viable for the grower and to make the village an ideal one at the statelevel. Dr.Shashikala, Dr.Srinivasulu, Dr.Balaji Naik, Dr.Anitha, Dr.Spandana, Dr.Srijaya and Dr.Kavitha participated in the programme. As part of the visit, the farmers visited research plots of the Forage scheme along with the Director of Research, laboratories of Biological Control of Crop Pests Scheme, Rice Research Station and Farm Implements and Machinery scheme, where they were briefed about and shown the latest technological innovations in agriculture by scientists working in the respective schemes.
