Increasing the area under Pulse crop through Group Approach in Nalgonda District on 24-07-2021

KVK, Kampasagar distributed Redgram Seed PRG-176 and Rhizobium to the Tribal farmers of Pathy Thanda (V), Tripiuraram (M), Nalgonda Dist under Tribal Sub Plan for the year 2021-22. Most of the farmers cultivate rice as major crops whereas area under pulse crop is less. So, in order to increase the area under pulse crop a group of farmers were motivated towards cultivation of Redgram and as part of programme distributed Redgram Seed, other critical inputs to the farmers and also method demonstration on seed treatment with Rhizobium was done in farmers field. Dr.M.Shankaraiah, Programme Co-ordinator, KVK, Kampasagar explained the farmer about the need and importance of pulse crops and how they help in improving the soil fertility. S.Pallavi, SMS (Extension) motivated farmers towards cultivation of Redgram in group approach and explained about the characteristics of the crop. Dr.M.Shankar, SMS (Plant Protection) explained about the different pests incidence and their management measures. Dr.T.Bharath, SMS (Crop Production) explained about package of practices to be adopted by farmers in redgram crop, T.Himabindu, SMS (Horticulture) explained about importance of Rizobium and its usage. Total 15 Tribal farmers participated in the programme.
