Sensitization workshop to ginning mill owners, input dealers etc. at KVK training hall, Adilabad on 17-04-2021

"Sensitization workshop to ginning mill owners, input dealers etc." was organized at KVK training hall, Adilabad on 17.04.2021 and created awareness on Pink bollworm management under the project on "Insecticide Resistance Management (IRM): Dissemination of Pink bollworm management strategies" in Adilabad District which is being implemented by this station during the year 2020-21 under the jurisdiction of PJTSAU and sponsored by ICAR-CICR, Nagpur which is the nodal agency to implement the project. In this programme, Dr. Sreedhar Chauhan, Principal Scientist (Agro.) &Head, ARS, Adilabad participated as chief guest and emphasized that; the pink bollworm is spreading mainly through leftover produce of ginning mill. Hence, the kapas wastage may be removed from the ginning mills and installation of pheromone traps is the main remedy for the management of pink bollworm. Dr. Y. Praveen Kumar, Programme Coordinator, KVK, Adilabad participated as a guest of honour and expressed that input dealers are the main resource person for the availability of the inputs like Pheromone traps, Neem oil for the management of pink bollworm. Hence, input dealers should concentrate on inputs of the pink bollworm management. Sri N. Ramesh, DAO i/c, Adilabad spoke that, pheromone traps are the main input for the management of PBW and these will be arranged by the Dept. of Agriculture through input dealers for coming season and also emphasized on ginning mill owners should clean their ginning mills. Similarly, Sri K. Rajashekar, Scientist (Ento.), ARS, Adilabad given power point presentation on 'life cycle and management of pink bollworm and boll rot in cotton'. Dr. D. Mohan Das, Scientist (Agro.), ARS, Adilabad spelt about nutrient management in cotton. Dr. M. Rajendar Reddy, Scientist (Pl. Br.) explained about cotton followed by Bengalgram cropping system for pink bollworm management. Sri G. Anil Kumar, Scientist (Pl. Br.), ARS, Adilabad opined that, input dealers should not depend on single hybrid and also suggested to procure more no. of hybrids to avoid damage by biotic & abiotic factors. In this programme, Scientists of KVK, Adilabad; Dr. Sunil Kumar, Dr. Rama Devi, Dr. Raghuveer, Dr. Shiva Charan, Sri A. Srikanth, SRF; Sri M. Swapnil, Young Professional; input dealers and ginning mill owners were also participated.
