Training programme on IPM and IDM in vegetables at adopted village, Damera on 22-01-2022

Village adoption team of Agricultural College Warangal organized training programme on IPM and IDM in vegetables on 22-01-2022 at adopted village, Damera. Smt. L. Suhasini, Asst. Prof (Horticulture) stated that the major yield losses in vegetables were due to pests and disease infestation. To control this pest & disease infestation, farmers were practicing chemical management which results in pesticide residues in the produce which may pose threat to humans when they consume them. To overcome these problems, farmers should not depend only on chemical management, they should follow eco-friendly practices like selecting resistant varieties, deep summer ploughings, crop rotation with suitable crops, installation of yellow, blue and white sticky traps to control the sucking pests, planting boarder crops (Jowar, maize in Tomato), installation of pheromone traps, usage of neem oil and neem cake, planting trap crops (marigold in tomato, mustard in cabbage and castor), seed treatment with Trichoderma viridae @8 gm per kg seed, release of trichocards @20,000/acre, installation of bird patches to control helicoverpa and spodoptera larvae. Dr.Ch.Anusha, Asst. Prof (Entomology) explained about the precautions to be taken by farmers while spraying chemicals. Dr. Ch. Anusha, Smt. L. Suhasini and Smt. Ch. Yashaswini and farmers have participated in the programme.
