Training program on practical hands-on skills in vermicomposting under ICAR SC-SP 2021-22 by Agricultural College, Warangal, on 11-05-2022

Agricultural College, Warangal organized one day training program on practical hands-on skills in vermicomposting under ICAR SC-SP 2021-22 on 11-05-2022. Dr. M. Balram, Associate Dean, Agricultural College, Warangal welcomed the guests and delivered his presidential remarks on the training programme and advised farmers to utilize the opportunity to learn about vermin composting and try to establish enterprises to serve the fellow farmers . Dr. Uma Reddy, Associate Director of Research, RARS Warangal inspired the trainees that only thinking differently can help to develop rather than following the existing ideas of farming. Smt. Usha Dayal, District Agricultural Officer enlightened the trainees about utilization village dump yards for preparation of vermicompost. Sri K. Damodar Reddy, Assistant Director of Agriculture emphasized the need to shift from monoculture to integrated farming. Dr. A. Venkat Reddy, Convenor gave hands on skills in vermicomposting and uses of vermicompost. Dr. Anil Kumar, SMS DAATTC Warangal explained about plant protection measures in organic farming. Dr. J. Kamalakar, Asst. Professor (SSAC) delivered a lecture on importance of organic farming and use of organic manures. Dr. Ch. Anusha, Asst. Professor (ENTO) discussed about production of earthworms, vermi -wash and its uses. Smt. K. Manasa, Asst. Professor (AMBE) emphasized on value addition to vermicompost and its uses. After the series of lectures, the participants visited vermicompost, vermiculture and vermi-wash units. At the end, an interaction and feed-back session was conducted for clarification of their queries. All the participants were given literature hand-outs on training program and distributed vermicompost bags to each of them. In this program around 50 members participated from various places. Pamphlet on Vermicompost was released by the guests on this occasion.
