Training programme on “Seed production Technology in Field Crops” at ARS, Tornala on 19-11-2020

One day training programme on “Seed production technology in field crops” was organized by Seed Research and Technology Centre, Rajendranagar, PJTSAU on 19th November 2020 at ARS, Tornala. It was organized with an objective of training the farmers in quality seed production in major agricultural crops of Siddipet district with financial assistance of IISS, MAU under MSP (HRD) component. Dr. B. Pushpavathi, Principal Scientist (Plant Pathology) representative of Director (Seeds), Dr. V.Swarnalatha and Dr.K.Parimala from SRTC, Hyderabad, Dr. A.V. Ramanjaneyulu, Sr. Scientist (Agro.) & Head, Mrs. A. Saritha, Dr.E.Umarani, Mrs. D. Swetha and Dr. N. Sainath from ARS, Tornala and Dr. R. Srinivas Rao from DATTC, Tornala have participated in the programme. Officers from Agricultural department Siddipet District and a total of 56 progressive farmers from 4 mandals covering 13 different villages of Siddipet district have participated in the training. At the outset, Dr. V.Swarnalatha, Senior Scientist from SRTC gave an overview of the training programme and Dr.K.Parimala Sr. Scientist from SRTC has emphasized on participatory seed production and procedures to be followed by the farmers. Later, the lectures on quality seed production in agricultural crops like paddy, pulses, oilseeds, pest and diseases management and agronomic management practices in different crops were dealt in detail by Dr.V.Swarnalatha, Dr.K.Parimala, Mrs. A. Saritha, Dr. E.Umarani, Dr.B.Pushpavathi, Dr.A.V. Ramanjnaeyulu and Dr. R. Srinivasa Rao, respectively. Farmers were shown seed production plots of Paddy and Daincha green manure maintained at ARS, Tornala. Many farmers actively participated in farmer-scientist interactive sessions and expressed their willingness to take up on farm seed production with the support of ARS, Tornala and SRTC, Hyderabad, PJTSAU from ensuing Rabi, 2020-2021.
