Technology and Machinery Demonstration Mela at KVK, Palem on 14-02-2020

All India Coordinated Research Project (AICRP) on Farm Implements and Machinery, ARI, Rajendranagar organized “Technology and Machinery Demonstration Mela” at Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Palem, Nagarkurnool District on 14.02.2020. Dr. T. Prabhakar Reddy, Programme Coordinator, KVK, Palem briefed about the importance of the machinery in agriculture. Dr. P. Raghuramireddy, Associate Dean, Agricultural College, Palem mentioned that farm mechanization can reduce the cost of cultivation and increase the productivity with use of improved implements and perform timely operation at different stages of crop cultivation. Dr. Ch. Sravan Kumar, Scientist (Agril. Engg.) Created awareness amongst the user groups about farm implements. Dr. Ramakrishna baabu, Coordinator, DAATTC, Mahaboobnagar stressed that the new technologies developed in the field agriculture particularly dry land crops has tremendous potential for diversified application. He said Melas are interaction field for scientists and farmers which will help free exchange of their views. Dr. S. Parimal Kumar, Scientist (Agronomy), RARS, Palem explained about mechanized rice transplanting and mentioned about weeders suitable for wetland rice. Dr. K. Mamatha, Scientist (Agronomy), RARS, Palem created awareness about mechanization in groundnut. Mr. S. Mastanaiah, Scientist (Agril. Engg.) explained about primary and secondary tillage implements. Sri. Veeranna, Asst. Professor (Agril. Engg.) stressed about different types of sprayers and their importance in agriculture. A total of 170 farmers, Department Officials, RAWEP students were participated in the programme.
