Training through Audio Conference with the farmers of Chinthalamanepalli Mandal of Kumram Bheem Asifabad (Aspirational) District on Micro Nutrient Deficiencies and it’s Management in Cotton organised by KVK, Bellampalli on 17-09-2020

Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Bellampalli in a co-ordination with Reliance Foundation organized a training cum interaction programme on “Micro Nutrient Deficiencies and Its Management in Cotton” through Audio Conference with the farmers of Chinthalmanepalli mandal of Kumram Bheem Asifabad (Aspirational) District on 17th September, 2020. As KVK, Bellampalli, a district Knowledge Centre of Agriculture conducting training programmes and farmer interaction sessions through need based video/audio conferences to disseminate the weather based agro advisories for the effective management of the crop as well as to improve/enhance the yields. Firstly Dr. M. Rajeshwar Naik, Senior Scientist & Head (Programme Coordinator) interacted with the farmers and addressed the present issues and delivered the advisories to the farming community as mentioned below:

Cotton:

  • To prevent square and flower drop in cotton, spray Planofix @ 2 ml per 10 litre of water twice at 10 days interval. Prevailing weather conditions are congenial for the incidence of leaf spot and sucking pests in cotton. To control spray Carbendazim @ 1g and Acephate @ 1.5 g per litre of water.
  • Incidence of pink boll warm is noticed in cotton. To monitor install 4 pheromone traps per acre and control measures may be taken up after observing 7-8 adults insects for consecutive three days. To control, spray Thiodicarb @ 1.5 g or Chlorpyriphos @ 2 ml per litre of water.

During the Session Dr. I. Thirupathi, SMS (Crop Production) interacted with the farmers to clear their doubts on “Micro Nutrient Deficiencies and Its Management in Cotton”. In this connection, SMS (Crop Production) briefed about the major micro nutrient deficiencies observed during Diagnostic/ Joint Diagnostic Visits. The details and recommendations are as follows:

    • Zinc : Zinc Sulphate @ 2gm per litre of water
    • Magnesium :  Magnesium Sulphate @ 10gm per litre of water       
    • Boran  : Borax @ 1.5gm per litre (7-10 days interval)

For this programme Sri. A. Nagaraju, SMS (Plant Protection) and Smt. U. Sravanthi, SMS (Horticulture) and Sri. Jayawardhan, Coordinator (Reliance Foundation) were participated addressed the farmers in their respective disciplines and 37 number of farmers were participated in the session.
