One day workshop on “Drone based Applications in Agriculture" at PJTSAU, Hyderabad on 09-01-2020. Professor Jayashankar Telangana State Agricultural University (PJTSAU) has organized one day workshop on "Drone based Applications in Agriculture" at University Auditorium, Rajendranagar on 09-01-2020. Dr. V. Praveen Rao, Vice Chancellor, PJTSAU has gave the welcome address. V.C. said that, the state government is keen to implement modern technologies for the benefit of the farmers in the state. In this workshop, PJTSAU and Anna University, Chennai has sign a Memorandum of Understanding for the mutual cooperation in drone technology in agricultural operations. Dr. V. Praveen Rao, V.C., PJTSAU and Dr. MK .Surappa, Vice Chancellor, Anna University had signed the MoU papers, while speaking at the workshop Dr. MK Surappa has said that, the advanced technologies can help to enhance the crop yield and agricultural productivity. He felt happy to collaborate an Oldest University with the youngest Agricultural University. Dr K Alagusundaram, Deputy Director General (Agricultural Engineering & Natural Resources Management) of Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) attended as chief guest for inaugural session. Speaking at the inaugural session, Dr. K. Alagusundaram said that, under his chairmanship a committee was constituted to study the drone technologies for agriculture . He said that, the committee may give its recommendations to include the drones in custom hiring centers for utilizing in agricultural operations both in spraying and other activities. Several scientists from Agricultural University and ICAR institutes, drone manufacturing companies, IIT Hyderabad, IIIT Hyderabad, NABARD, Deans and Directors of the University were present.
