World Soil Day Organized at Adopted Village on 05th December, 2019 byAgricultural College, Palem

On the occasion of World Soil Day and in view of the upcoming rabi season, Agricultural College, Palem conducted a training programme to farmers at Gram Panchayath of the adopted village ‘Shainpalli’. Agricultural College Associate Dean, faculty from department of Soil science, Plant protection and officials from Agricultural department have acted as experts. Dr. G. Jayasree, Professor and Head, Department of Soil Science has spoken on different soil conservation practices like soil mulching and contour farming etc. She also explained about importance of organic carbon in the soil and various methods to improve its content. The Associate Dean, Dr. P. Raghurami Reddy has elucidated crop residue management and suggested farmers to incorporate cotton stalks into soil with tractor mounted shredder and rotavator to avoid burning of stalks and improve soil organic carbon content. He also advised farmers to follow recommended seed rate and spacing for Paddy variety RNR 15048 to avoid pest infestation. All the farmer queries related to different rabi crops were also addressed by the experts. Village adoption committee members Dr. T. Archana, Sri Rahul Viswakarma and Dr. K. Sravanthi have organized the programme, Grama Sarpanch Smt. Avanthi graced the occasion and around 50 farmers have attended and made it successful.
