World soil day celebrations in Agricultural College, Warangal

On the eve of world soil day (5-12-2019), Agricultural College Warangal has organised a meeting, which was started by inviting guests on to the dais by the final year student Manasa. Later the guests were felicitated by handing over flower bouquets. Dr. T. Ramesh Associate Dean, Agricultural College, Warangal presided over the function. Associate Dean in his opening remarks has emphasised the role of the students in preserving and handing over the good and fertile soil to the next generations. Dr. Ch. Ramulu Scientist, RARS has enlightened students regarding the history of world soil science day and precautions to be taken to preserve the fertile soil. He also emphasised the role of students to feed the growing population by absorbing the pressure of industrialisation, urbanisation and degrading soil fertility. Later, Sri A. Krishna Assistant Director of Agriculture, STL, Warangal, who was the chief guest who shared his practical experiences with the farmers regarding maintenance of the soil fertility by encouraging the farmers to grow green manure crops, wind breakers and adding FYM to soil. The students who won first and second prizes for essay writing, pencil art and quiz competition conducted on the eve of “World soil day” were awarded with certificate of appreciation. The function was concluded with the pledge read out by Dr. J. Bharghavi. Vote of thanks was extended by Dr. B. Vidhyadhar. On this occasion, the final year girl students depicted a beautiful rangoli on the theme “stop soil erosion-save future.”
